He was born in Santiago de Chile , due political reasons his family left the country in 1973. After living in Italy and East-Germany, his family settled in The Netherlands in 1977. The piano was his first instrument but at the age of 26 he decided to study bass guitar and completed his musical training at the conservatory in Hilversum, The Netherlands.
